We bring poems selected around a chosen topic and share them with the group. We then discuss any aspects we feel about them in a supportive atmosphere. Humour plays a large part in our discussions, as does tea and refreshments! We are not experts, but as a group we are growing in confidence and understanding.
We look for subjects that can be interpreted as widely as possible and have a common appeal. Searching out poems to share with the group is one of the pleasures, and it is surprising the variety of sources people manage to find. Past topics have included: weather, holidays, sea, colour, love, childhood, narrative poems and we often study famous poets.
We are a very friendly bunch, and new members are warmly welcomed. Meetings are held at St Ethelwold's House in East St Helen's Street, Abingdon, and there is a charge of £3.00 per session.
